Richard Todd OBE
7th December, 2009
This week brings the sad news of the death of Richard Todd, at the age of 90. His screen (big and small) career spanned nearly 60 years, and he was still appearing in the likes of Casualty and Heartbeat until very recently. He was Oscar nominated for his first film appearance, in The Hasty Heart, and followed this with a part in Hitchcock's Stage Fright the following year. His film roles included Robin Hood and Rob Roy, but he will be best remembered in War films, and in particular, as Guy Gibson in the bouncing bomb classic, The Dambusters.
